Jesus Is Lord of All, Romans 10:13
Jesus Is Lord Of All
Romans 10:13 (p. 1760) September 3, 2017
For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord
is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for,
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:13 (from Joel 2:32 through Acts 2)
Intro: 1) a quick review of the “all’s” in Romans
2) read this passage as if Paul were writing to Anacortes = Doug’s translation
The stumbling block
Because they pursued [righteousness] as if were by works.
Romans 9:32
- The “stumbling block” is JESUS (but the Jesus revealed by God in his Word!)
- My biggest problem is MYSELF
One way to righteousness
That if you confess . . . . and believe . . . you will be saved.
Romans 10:9
- Confession means CRY OUT IN AGREEMENT WITH GOD THAT JESUS IS MY LORD!
- Belief means EMBRACE GOD’S WORK (ESPECIALLY THE JESUS STORY
AND THE RESSURECTION) AS FOR ME
Paul’s prayer today
Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
Romans 10:1
- PRAY
- Grow MATURE = REPRODUCING believers
— building: strong foundation of the Apostles and Prophets
— family: resolving conflict, sharing family values
— temple: evidence of the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit
— branches: connected to the vine, producing fruit
à Paul’s evangelistic plan WAS the church:
— Acts 11:19-30; Acts 13
— Acts 16:1-5; 18:23 –> the entire letter to the Romans!
